Static Electricity

Yesterday we said goodbye to Papa. A sad day indeed. We spent the morning getting him packed and playing our last rounds of cards together. In less than two weeks he's turned Johan into a Ford man.

The good news of the day is that the Defender of Minor's approved our case! So the papers are back with the judge. Our lawyer thinks we will receive the call to sign on Monday. Our fingers are crossed! After that happens our lawyer has to go to Melgar, where Johan was born, to get him a new birth certificate. With the new birth certificate we can get him his passport. Patricia thinks we might get all this done and be headed to Bogota on Thursday.

Johan found the joy of balloons and static electricity yesterday. Evidently he never learned about rubbing balloons on your head and getting your hair to stand up. Tom showed him how it was done - but it's not nearly as funny with the short hair he and Johan have - so I was the sacrificial lamb. Johan got the biggest kick out of seeing my hair stand on end. (Just wait until he lives a dry Ohio weather and rubs his feet on the carpet!)

Happy Saturday,
Carrie

PS - Congratulations to my good friend, Cher, who has worked her tail off and busted through the glass ceiling once again! She is now Captain Cher Clark - the first female Captain of the Dayton Fire Department!
