Passing Time

Yesterday morning we went to the bank with Patricia which seems to be a daily adventure – due primarily to the fact that it is the beginning of the month. We then went to an Avianca office to change Tom’s plane ticket. He was originally flying from Ibague to Bogota the morning of the 12th then connecting to Delta to fly to the States. Ibague lies between two mountain ranges so you have to fly over one to get to Bogota. If the pilots can’t see the mountains they cannot fly over them – so the flights can easily be cancelled. It was therefore suggested that we change his in-country flight to Friday the 11th in order to give him some cushion time.

After lunch Tom, Johan and I went to the park to shoot a few hoops, and then ventured to the store for sodas and snacks and back to the house for cards. I showed Johan how to build a house of cards – which he took to immediately. I can’t remember the last time I built a house of cards – but boy it sure tried my patience. It’s nerve wracking! Johan loved it.

We introduced Johan to the iPod – he’s definitely a music fan (he likes the thump-thump kind of music – and of course Latin style – his Papa will drive him nuts with the Country music).

Dr. Nohra picked up our documents yesterday but no news on the filing. We hope to hear something today.

We learned that today there are public marches scheduled throughout Colombia and the world in protest of Hugo Chavez, President of Venezuela. (see link)

The University of Tolima is just around the corner where we are staying and there is a big banner at the end of the street promoting the march. So this could be interesting.
