This morning we did some more errands and once again Patricia had all of the contacts. Our first stop was at a place to get a copy of Tom's passport. Patricia pulled up to the curb and yelled out to a young lady in a shop who came out, took our papers and made the copy. A drive up copy shop! Our next stop was the photo shop to have Johan's picture taken for his passport (and of course she knew the workers by first name {I think she was flirting with one of them}). Patricia then went to exchange some money, etc. while the three of us hung out at the Juan Valdez coffee shop (EXACTLY like Starbucks). We found some great people-watching at the J. Valdez coffee shop.
This afternoon Patricia called a driver to take us to the swimming pool across town. It was great - we were the only ones there for the majority of the time and it was a very nice pool.
On the way back we passed a bus full of school children - that pointed at us and said 'Gringo's!' - which we have been previously told not to take as an insult. It was pretty funny and Johan got a big kick out of it. We were really an oddity. (which we knew - but leave it to the children to be innocent enough to speak it aloud). As an afterthought Tom said he should have said 'hi, I'm Tom Cruise' - which we found funny until we realized the 8 year olds would probably have no idea who Tom Cruise is.
Johan was awesome today - taking care of us with our limited Spanish. He helped us with the translation from the taxi driver as well as ordering and paying for our drinks at the pool. It was great.
